So I went into that box of stuff that hasn't ever been made into a quilt (Yay Procrastination!) and found some of my old MSU Soccer stuff and gasp! a 1997 marathon shirt. I've been doing this since almost before it was cool!
Today's challenge requires some photos, so I had to take an accomplice. He happens to be eleven, so some catch-up music had to be played and a 90s costume had to be aquired for him. And then we had our first generation gap moment.
1. "Does all the music sound rainy and cliff-jumpy?"
2. "Didn't they have tech fabric in the 90s?!?!"
So, we've got some rain and flooding here in Maryville, very Seattle.
I have a rather hilly, well drained neighborhood, but of course, where would be the challenge there?
Instead, we went out to the Greenbelt, which I think existed before the 90s, but it was about that decade that it became to two-county monstrosity it is today. It also happens to be the site of my high school Who's Who photo, so of course, I reinacted that.
We managed to venture out during the one hour it wasn't raining and took some puddle pictures.
And...lo and behold...there on the path, WAAAAYYYY too far north, a crawfish, totally reminding me of Mississippi, where I spent most of the 90s.
For some reason, it seemed like maybe we could also make some use out of a boogie board in some of the flooding. Junior declined that bit of the challenge, proclaiming it too have "too much knee-busting potential." Wimp.
We wrapped up the trip by feeding the water chickens, err ducks.
This also spoke to the theme of the day.
